The content and the text that is on your web sites pages refers to On Page SEO. It is a method of editing to ensure your page and its contents are located in the search engines when a surfer is typing in keywords to search for a specific topic that is related to your website.

On Page SEO or search engine optimization began with the first of the search engines. The technology was started simple while the World Wide Web was still small. As the World Wide Web grew larger it has become more complex for search engines to tell the difference between your site and other sites. A Search on ?Beds? could bring back s million+ pages that have incorporated the word ?Bed? in their pages. The more sophisticated technology of Off Page SEO has begun to overtake the search engines as the World Wide Web has continued to grow in size and complexity.

On Page SEO?s purpose is to optimize your website and make it search engine friendly to gain traffic. If your website is not optimized for keyword search your chances of getting decent results in the major search engines will decrease dramatically. Your website should be properly indexed for the search engines. At least one link on each of your sites that takes the user somewhere should be in place. Your content should be unique and original on every page.

Meta tags should be properly arranged with your page title tags and description tags that are describing the content of your pages. Ensure the page title tags are 68 characters or less and the descriptions tags are–8 characters or less but more detailed. H tags should be used to label the different headers on your webpage. The web page URL should be SEO friendly too by using mod re-write for Linux and Apache hosting for IIS redirect for Windows versions. Ideally you should try to ensure that your URLS describe your pages content as closely as possible.

Links on your pages should be complete and checked often for any links that may be dead. Use descriptive URLS for images that are placed on your site instead of just numbers for the filenames. All images should be labeled with descriptive alt attributes to ensure the best optimization.

Anchor texts links should be used within your page to redirect the page traffic to other websites. If you are selling lingerie then you should place anchor links in the text lingerie where the word appears throughout your site. Check that only one version of your site is active. Redirect All non www. URLS appropriately.

Any non www. URLS should be redirected correctly. No need to waste Page Rank on sites that are not necessary for search engines. Use the rankings for only pages that will bring the most traffic to your site. You can use the rel=?nofollow? tag in the pages not needed. You can also utilize this tag for any pages that you do not trust or have no desire to help in the search engines.

Make sure you code is good for the search engines to properly read your pages. Using the W3C validator you can check your pages markup. Simply follow these guidelines for On Page SEO and you should get good results in the search engines and good Page Rankings.
